The big bike festival for free
At the national CYCLE WEEK from May 23 to 26, 2024, cycling fans and professionals, the industry and tourism will come together for the country's largest participatory cycling festival. CYCLE WEEK in Zurich encompasses the entire world of cycling and will be held at the Europaallee and Brunau locations. Admission to the entire event is free, including the new large test center in Brunau and the dirt jump contest.
CYCLE WEEK Festival Europaallee - new with Velofest
At the Europaallee near Zurich Main Station, numerous exhibitors will be showcasing every type of bike in the Expo, for every terrain, every requirement and every speed, for sport, leisure and everyday life, for city and country: mountain bikes, gravel bikes, racing bikes and e-bikes, children's bikes in the Kids Zone, city and cargo bikes and accessories. Innovations such as lightweight e-bikes, reversing cameras and newly designed cargo bikes are available for testing. The Swiss cycling industry will be showing what it can do.
The public will experience shows with bike artist Tom Oehler, contests with the BMX Flatlanders, the special appearances of the Zurich 2024 Cycling and Para-Cycling Road World Championships and the 2025 MTB World Championships in Valais at the main station. Cycling vacation destinations will present new cycling routes through Switzerland with offers ranging from 5-star hotels to campsites in Graubünden, Valais, Ticino and Austria.
The Europaallee Velofest will also take place on Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. with additional shows, battles and attractions. "We want to celebrate a big bike festival and invite everyone to join us," says OC President Erwin Flury. Throughout the CYCLE WEEK, visitors will be spoiled with a wide range of street food stalls.
CYCLE WEEK Campus Brunau, now with free admission
Visitors should ideally come to the sports hall in Brunau in their cycling gear! In the bike test center, mountain bikes, gravel bikes and racing bikes invite you to test ride on short and long test tracks. 150 workshops, riding technique courses and social rides impart knowledge about bikes: there are technical workshops with the Swiss Cycling Guides and various social rides with ambassadors. If you want to improve your training or mental strength, the workshops on sports psychology, training optimization or nutrition are the right place for you. If you want to be there, you should get pedaling! The workshops are sold out in no time.
Züri Escape, an unassisted bikepacking event covering 400 kilometers and a whopping 10,000 meters of altitude, with a start and finisher party at the CYCLE WEEK Campus, is celebrating its premiere. In summer, all bikepackers and gravel adventurers can compete on the exact same route at the Züri Escape Challenge.
The international ZÜRIDIRT CONTEST will be held at Jumppark Sihlcity. The big names of the MTB dirt jump scene will be at the start and show off their spectacular stunts.
Climb for Trees, Safety Parcours and much more
The CYCLE WEEK is supported by the main sponsors Mastercard and the City of Zurich as well as the sponsors Focus Water, Ochsner Sport and Graubünden Ferien. Together with Mastercard, CYCLE WEEK aims to plant 100'000 trees through cycling with the "Climb for Trees" challenge. The city of Zurich is committed to improving road safety with the Safety Parcours. The Focus Water Lounge at Campus Brunau is the meeting point of the Velo-Uni with a wide variety of workshops and riding technique courses. Ochsner Sport demonstrates its great service expertise and offers service workshops and a large bike service with a 50 percent discount. Graubünden and its partner destinations Engadin and Davos Klosters will be showing off their skills with Grisons specialties, the film premiere of the "Glacier Bike Tour" and spectacular bike shows with Tom Oehler.
Parallel to CYCLE WEEK: Veloforum Schweiz Suisse Svizzera
With the aim of doubling the number of kilometers cycled over the next few years, experts will be presenting their ideas and discussing new solutions at the Veloforum Schweiz Suisse Svizzera. The first Veloforum will take place parallel to the CYCLE WEEK on May 23 at the Kongresshaus. The UCI Cycling and Para-Cycling Road World Championships Zurich 2024 is initiating the Veloforum in Zurich with the support of the Federal Roads Office FEDRO.
