The sixth edition of the national bike festival CYCLE WEEK once again attracted thousands of visitors in glorious sunshine. OC President Erwin Flury says: "The exciting thing about CYCLE WEEK is that, thanks to the various festival locations, we not only reach an interested audience, but also many passers-by in Europaallee."
Good response from exhibitors
The CYCLE WEEK Expo presented itself as a showcase for the cycling industry with over 130 exhibitors. A new record! Despite the extreme heat, the exhibitors were satisfied with the number of visitors. At the Europaallee near Zurich's main railway station, exhibitors showed bikes for every terrain, every requirement and every speed. Visitors found an overview of the entire range of bikes and used the "city tunnel" circuit as a test track in large numbers. In addition, bike-related services, travel destinations, tourist destinations and inspiration for the next cycling adventure were on display. The sporty bikes were tested on various ideal test tracks ranging from gravel and road bikes to mountain bikes at Campus Brunau. The interest was enormous: for the first time, it was possible to register online for the bike test, which was taken up by 2,113 people who completed a total of 4,474 test rides. There were 1,333 registrations for the workshops and rides.
Favorites prevail
The international BMX Flatland Contest of the world's elite on the Gustav Gull course was won on Saturday evening by favorite Kio Hayakawa from Japan ahead of Viki Gomez from Spain. The "Red Bull Dance your Style" show competition with mixed teams of dancers and BMX Flatland athletes was also part of the program on Friday evening.
Jumppark Sihlcity was once again the venue for the international ZÜRIDIRT CONTEST. International dirt jump pros performed spectacular stunts and thrilled the audience. Local Michelle Neuer won the women's competition, while Tom Isted from Great Britain won the men's competition.
A special adventure awaited 50 women and 50 men, who were drawn from over 300 applications: They completed the 414-kilometre "Züri Escape" route with 10,000 meters of elevation gain around the canton of Zurich. After around 24 hours, Lorenz Inauen for the men and Josephine Meissner for the women were first back in Zurich.
Short Track Fast&Curious with potential
The new Short Track Fast&Curious program in Lagerstrasse in the disciplines of cargo bike, folding bike, special bike battle, children's race and bicycle catwalk (for extroverted cyclists) was entertaining and elicited many "Jööhhs" from adult spectators thanks to the kids. Sometimes the participants won a folding bike, sometimes cash in hand or CYCLE WEEK socks in Leo style. The children won one of the 200 kids' medals.
Positive outcome
The organizers draw an extremely positive balance. There were no serious incidents on any of the four days. The varied program, the high number of visitors and the smooth implementation underline the success of CYCLE WEEK 2026.
