Weeks before the start, CYCLE WEEK had already received hundreds of registrations for bike tests, workshops and rides. International athletes travel to Zurich for spectacular competitions, while families, recreational cyclists, athletes and the curious can experience cycling in all its facets. Admission to all festival locations is free of charge.
With over 130 exhibitors, hundreds of test bikes and more than 100 workshops, CYCLE WEEK sees itself as a platform for all types of cycling and for all those interested in bikes. The whole of Cycling Switzerland is involved - from elite to popular sports, from infrastructure to leisure mobility.
The interest is already enormous in the run-up to the event: around 400 people have registered for the big bike test so far. Thanks to the test card and QR code, the latest bikes are easy to try out. Workshops and guided rides are also proving very popular - around 850 registrations have already been received.
The highlights include international contests in MTB Dirtjump and BMX Flatland with athletes from all over the world. Football star Lia Wälti competes in the roller sprint, former professional cyclist Mathias Frank accompanies a ride, and six-time BMX Flatland World Champion Viki Gomez inspires children in workshops. Unusual combinations also create a festival atmosphere: dancers improvise together with BMX Flatland athletes to live sounds.
In addition to sport and action, the focus is on encounters, knowledge and shared experiences. Visitors can learn exciting facts about sleep and regeneration from co-director Christoph Joho of Weltklasse Zürich, meet traffic expert Leo Sicuro on the safety course or discover the most beautiful cycling and biking routes around Zurich with Swiss Cycling Guides.
A special adventure awaits 50 women and 50 men who were selected from over 300 applicants: They will complete the 420-kilometre "Züri Escape" route with 10,000 meters of elevation gain around the canton of Zurich.
In addition, attractive prizes await the participants of the new Fast&Curious short track in Lagerstrasse in the various disciplines of cargo bike, folding bike, special bike battle and bicycle catwalk (for extroverted cyclists) - including folding bikes, CYCLE WEEK cash cards, vouchers, CYCLE WEEK socks in Leo style and lots of fame and glory. Children will also get their money's worth: on the short track, even two to five-year-olds will become medal winners.
The CYCLE WEEK takes advantage of Zurich's ever-improving cycling infrastructure: from the new city tunnel as a bike test track, pump tracks and dirt jump facilities to the popular trails and cycle routes around the city.
The festival locations are in Europaallee, at the Saalsporthalle Brunau and in the Sihlcity Jumppark - admission is free everywhere.
