A bike festival to mark the opening of the city tunnel

To kick off Cycle Week, Zurich is celebrating the opening of the city tunnel on May 22, 2025 with a bike parade and a bike festival. The city is celebrating a historic event with the opening of the cycle link under Zurich main station. A tunnel that was built for a highway will become a tunnel for cyclists. The city tunnel thus becomes a safe bicycle connection between districts 4 and 5, offering free parking spaces and direct access to the main station. If you want to be among the first to ride through the tunnel, get a free ticket and come to Lagerstrasse at 5.30 pm. From 6.30 p.m., it's free for all and a bike festival with various attractions, competitions and bars on the "city tunnel circuit". On the Cycle Week site, bike shows will amaze visitors and various DJs will provide good beats.

Spectacular and fascinating competitions and shows

International and national dirt jump bikers will meet again on the Cycle Week weekend at the only international MTB Dirt Jump Contest in Switzerland on Saturday and Sunday at the ZüriTrails Jumppark near Brunau for the Züri Dirt Contest.
At Cycle Week, the world's best artists on two wheels will also compete in the international BMX Flatland Contest. This year's participants include last year's winner Kio Hayakawa from Japan, German champion Dustyn Alt and Zurich resident Dan Hennig.
At Red Bull's dance-your-style event, BMX flatland artists compete against dance professionals of all styles.
Dangerholm from Scott, known from radio and television, but above all from social media, pimps a custom bike on the spot.
Zurich-based Raphael Dähler and Nico Altherr are part of the up-and-coming MTB street trial community and inspire with their creative stunts and content on social media. In their 30-minute shows, the Swiss athletes demonstrate their skills on the Europaplatz.

The bicycle as a lifelong companion
The Cycle Week Festival impressively demonstrates that a bike is more than just a means of transportation. A customized bike improves comfort, performance and safety and increases riding enjoyment. From childhood to old age, the bicycle accompanies us through various phases of life and areas of use such as commuting and leisure. It promotes exercise, health and fast progress in the city as well as fun on leisurely rides and voyages of discovery.
A customized bike has many advantages:

  • Individuality: A bike tailored to individual needs is important as it significantly improves comfort, performance and safety.
  • Comfort: A bike that is tailored to your body size and shape reduces the risk of pain and injury. A well-fitted bike ensures an ergonomic riding position and optimum power transmission.
  • Performance: Riding a bike that fits is more efficient. The right frame size and geometry as well as suitable components such as saddle and handlebars enable better control and higher speed.
  • Safety: A bike that fits perfectly offers more stability and control, which is particularly important on challenging terrain or at high speeds. This reduces the risk of accidents.
  • Riding pleasure: When the bike fits well, riding is more fun. You feel safer and can cover longer distances without discomfort.
